Edwin Sisson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Sisson on December 29, 2023 at Weston Country Hospital in Newcastle, Wyoming. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 6, 1935 in Stanley, Iowa to Ancil and Ona (Hefner) Sisson, he was the youngest of three siblings. Edwin attended schools in Iowa, Minneapolis and Wyoming before graduating from Moorcroft High School in 1954.

On September 20, 1959 he married his beloved Carol Lee Kummerfeld. Together they welcomed three wonderful boys into their lives.

Edwin started his professional journey by working at Homestake Mine in New Haven, Wyoming before joining his father's business at Sisson Welding. Eventually, he purchased his own backhoe and established "Sisson Hoe and Dozer," where he spent the remainder of his career as a successful business owner.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Edwin actively contributed to his community. He served on the Presbyterian Church session and dedicated time as a member of Moorcroft's City Council. Additionally, he selflessly served as a volunteer firefighter. In his free time, Edwin pursued various hobbies that brought him joy and excitement.

He had a passion for drag racing and stock car racing, which led him to become the Late Model Modified State Champion in 1971.

Edwin leaves behind an enduring legacy through his children: Mark (Wanda), Dwayne (Trena) and Leslie (Jody). His love extended even further as he became adored by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His first grandchild was born on his 49th birthday. Surviving him is Carol Lee Sisson who shared an incredible bond with Edwin for over six decades. Additionally, his two sisters, Pat Duca of Sundance, Wyoming and Shirley Nicolen of Moorcroft, mourn his loss. Edwin Sisson was preceded in death by his parents.

As we bid farewell to Edwin, let us remember him as a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather and respected business owner. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
