Busy week for basketball teams

Illness ups the pressure for Lady Wolves

Three great teams came into Moorcroft as the Lady Wolves headed into their last week of the season, according to coach Matthew Albertson.

"The girls played really well on Friday night versus Buffalo and it was a very intense game for them," he says.

"We are battling sickness in the team, so playing with body aches, nausea, a head cold, etc. is never easy. Saturday, we seem to run out of steam, despite only being down ten at the intermission."

Albertson says he has seen consistent improvement from the team since the first week.

"We played Tongue River in the Burns tournament to start the season and last Saturday's score was quite a bit different than the first meeting," he says. "I know God has a plan for this team, trust and faith in Him through this process."

Boys

Wolves basketball coach Nick Redden expresses pride in his team over a busy couple of weeks.

"We've had six games in the last two weeks and it has been busy. Very little practice trying to prepare for each and every game," he says.

"We've had numerous positives. We may not have ended up in the win column, but, if you want to see the amount of learning that's been done over six games, It's been incredible."

The Wolves played against two very tough teams, Redden says: Big Horn and Tongue River.

"We were put in the position to win at the very end of the game, but that's just how those games go; once again, the boys showed their capabilities and what they can achieve," he says.

"These boys have stayed focused and I've enjoyed being around them at every practice. This is a very special group of kids and so I think we're going to surprise some people coming into Regionals."

The season ends this week with Wheatland and, on February 29, the Wolves head out for Regionals.
