Mat Masters bring home champions

This past weekend, seven boys and three girls, high school Moorcroft Mat Master wrestlers, traveled to Lander for the Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association Junior State tournament, wrestling both Greco and Freestyle.

There, they competed for the triple crown award and for the chance to be on team Wyoming for the National tournament in Fargo, ND this summer. As a team, in both Freestyle and Greco, they took second place, had four champions, placers and one triple crown champion. Individual results were:

Freestyle:

Champions - Riley DeHaven went 4-0, winning with two pins and a tech fall, 21-9 to take the championship; Wyatt Allred, 2-0, won his first match by a tech fall, 11-0 and his next match with a pin to place first.

Second Place - Trenten Gray went 5-1, losing in the semifinals and wrestling his way back to the placings where he won his third place match with a pin and was able to wrestle for a true-second placing. There, he dominated the match, winning with a tech fall, 19-6 to place second. Elyott Gorsuch went 0-2.

Third Place - Braydnn Terry went 4-2, wrestling some great, tough matches where he lost in the semifinals and came back to the placing rounds, winning his consolation semifinals match by tech fall, 10-0 and his placing match, 17-5 to take third place. He then was able to wrestle for a true-second where he lost by decision, 3-8 to take third. Chayce Buckner went 3-2, winning his matches by pin to make it into the finals where he lost to place second, but then had to wrestle for the true-second and lost by decision to place third.

Jacob Anderson went 1-2.

Freestyle Girls:

Champion - Rebekah Anderson placed first winning her matches by a tech fall 16-5 and 10-0. Tessa Farnsworth also placed first winning both her matches with pins.

Kaylee Buckner went 1-2.

Greco Boys results:

Champions - Chayce Buckner dominated his way through his bracket, going 4-0, winning his championship match by pin; Wyatt Allred, 2-0, won his matches both by tech fall, 8-0 and 12-1 to place first.

Second Place - Trenten Gray went 4-1, making it to the championship match where he lost to place second; Elyott Gorsuch went 0-2 to place second.

Third Place - Braydnn Terry went 3-2, losing in the semifinals and wrestled his way back to the placings where he won his consolation semifinals match by tech fall, 10-0 and his placing match by tech fall, 10-0 to place third. He then had to wrestle for a true-second where he lost by decision, 6-12 to take third.

Fourth Place - Riley DeHaven went 4-2, losing in the quarter finals and wrestled his way back to the placings, winning his consolation matches and consolation semifinals match with a pin to wrestle for placing. There, he lost to place fourth.

Jacob Anderson went 3-2.

Greco Girls results:

Champion - Rebekah Anderson went 2-0, winning her matches both with a tech fall, 8-0 and 9-0 to place first and become a triple crown champion by placing first in both styles and winning the folkstyle division at high school state. Tessa Farnsworth went 2-0 winning both her matches with pins.

Kaylee Buckner went 1-2.
