Digging up meters

The last of six water meters placed a year ago to segregate individual apartments within the 12-plex on North Little Horn Avenue were removed last Thursday.

About a year ago, Moorcroft's council chose to have six more meters installed in addition to the existing six to be connected when they passed an ordinance regarding billing individual tenants for utilities in town limits. This change of law has not been addressed since then and a vehicle wheel recently fell into a pit, destroying one of the unused meters.

The landlord currently pays water, sewer and garbage and is up to date on payments, according to Clerk/Treasurer Cheryl Schneider. Each meter covers two units and the new meters were not in use, so their removal was without issue.
