Lodging progress

As the Moorcroft Lodge nears completion, project supervisor Jeff Holberg took a few minutes Monday morning to share the progress.

The hotel and restaurant are approximately 50% complete with the roof, electric and plumbing finished and the dry wall hung throughout the second floor. According to the supervisor, "The lower floor will get drywall next and the restaurant will be finalized at the end."

Holberg expressed his appreciation for DA Peterson Properties owner Doug Peterson's inclusion of Moorcroft's community history and future.

"What's exciting is that they've already contacted the museum to get pictures of the community. That's what their artwork will be in the rooms and hallways and they've also invited local people to invest [in the property]. A good bunch of people to work with and work for, I'll tell you that."

The company is based in Lemon, SD and they own and have developed 13 similar properties thus far, according to Holberg. He noted that the Moorcroft Lodge is not affiliated with any corporate chain, the owners work as an independent group.

Moorcroft's newest establishment should open in late May or early June, according to Holberg.
