What's Happening at the Moorcroft Branch Library!

The youth services area of the library will be closed Monday, March 18 through Thursday, March 21 for spring cleaning.  Pickup services will be available for children and young adult books.  Please call us at least two hours ahead of when you would like to stop in at (307) 756-3232.

We will still have Storytime on Wednesday, March 20, however, it will be held in the upstairs meeting room.  There will be NO Afterschool program on March 20.

Grab a magazine, book or e-reader! It’s time to celebrate - March is National Reading Month. An entire month to focus on the importance of reading.

Reading allows everyone to be informed, stay in touch with others, learn about history and escape reality while enjoying great stories. Reading with others is a positive experience for all ages. Families can connect, bond and create happy memories while sharing fiction and non-fiction stories.

Most parents would agree that it is important to read to their young children. Sadly, studies show that, as children get older, their parents read less with them.

As your children grow older, it is important to continue to share stories with them as it can encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings with you. Here are some ways to share a love of reading with your older children:

Talk about the kind of books they like.

Share a variety of options including non-fiction, joke books, poems and fun facts.

Identify the fiction genres that are popular, e.g. fantasy, science fiction and sports stories.

Suggest graphic novels, manga material and other illustrated books.

Identify role models, including peers and celebrities, to promote reading.

Use online materials to encourage reading.

Visit us online at https://www.crookcountylibrary.org/moorcroft-branch.html to see all the fun we have scheduled.   You can also follow us on Facebook, stop in or call the library at 307-756-3232 for more information or to sign up for upcoming events!
