Garden space provides food for many

As the Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) begins their planned food pantry facilities on the south side of the Moorcroft Town Center (MTC), the town's community garden boxes have been dismantled and removed.

In December, 2023, the MIC approached Moorcroft's governing body about the possibility of purchasing this space to better facilitate food storage and distribution to people in need. With the approval of and purchase from the town, building commences with the clearing of the space.

According to the agreement with the town, the MIC must be permitted for work with project construction within five years and the organization is clearing the site for work this summer.

The two phases of this project include a 42' by 100' building with 16-18 foot ceiling and a drive through building to allow trucks to unload and vehicles to drive through for pick up and a proposed 40' by 80' building that will 'T' into the first drive through building and provide more food storage, housing for refrigeration and freezer units, office space and a restroom.

The gardens are not vanishing entirely, there are remnants in front of the Moorcroft Branch Library.
