Fireworks over the Lake gets go-ahead

Pine Haven’s fire department has hosted the Fireworks over the Lake fundraising event for decades and, with changing regulations at the state level, fire chief TJ Gideon has been diligently working to keep the occasion safe from closure.

The chief assured the town council as well as the public that the department has been granted a three-year permit from the state for the display over Keyhole.

“That’s a big accomplishment, it’s been a pain every year so now we’re good for three,” he said.

This permit allows the Pine Haven Fire Department to continue their largest and most attended fundraising event for the year. The money received from the Fireworks over the Lake night helps to dress the volunteer firefighters with quality bunker gear, breathing apparatus, etc., better ensuring survival as they battle flames and smoke of wild and structural fires.

The only issue that may affect the event at this point is possible threat of fire because of extreme conditions, as was the case a few years ago.
