Moorcroft woman charged with aggravated assault

A Moorcroft woman faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly threatening her husband with a knife.

According to court reports, a Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on May 16 at around 11:30 a.m.

The deputy reports that the victim stated that Sheila Hansen had come out to his shop and accused him of having an affair. She allegedly began hitting him in the back of the head with her hands as he walked away; the victim said he did not feel any pain from this or sustain injury.

Hansen then allegedly returned with a knife in her hand. The victim presented a series of three videos recorded on his cell phone that, according to the deputy’s statement, depict Hansen pursuing him in their driveway.

In the videos, Hansen is allegedly on the phone with a 911 dispatcher and states multiple times that the victim is hitting and trying to kill her. She allegedly screams and says to get away from her.

“This is clearly not an accurate account of the situation,” states the deputy in his report.

Hansen allegedly states in the video that she will kill the victim and is going to stab him. The victim is shown retreating and taking refuge behind a truck.

The deputy spoke with Hansen and reports that she admitted returning to the house to get a knife, but characterized it as being self defense. She also allegedly stated that she intended to stab the victim.

The deputy notes in his report that Hansen emitted the odor of an alcoholic beverage and admitted to having consumed alcohol that morning.

Hansen has been charged with aggravated assault and battery: threat to use a drawn deadly weapon, carrying a maximum penalty of ten years of incarceration; and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent, a felony carrying a maximum penalty of five years of incarceration, a $1000 fine or both.

She has also been charged with misdemeanor counts of false reporting to authorities, domestic assault and unlawful contact.
