Madison well repaired

After pulling the inactive pump and motor from the Madison well three weeks ago, a new array has been installed and the well is again providing the preponderance of the town’s water.

There had been a tentative plan to rebuild the previous pump and motor to keep in reserve but, after an examination, the decision was made to install a new assembly. “It’s about the same price,” according to Moorcroft Public Works Director Cory Allison.

Allison noted that usually this type of endeavor would take only a week; however the restart of the Madison took about three due to the weather. Though the water level in the town’s tank did not fall to the point of rationing this time, Allison plans on budgeting for a second new pump and motor assembly in the 22019/2020 fiscal year as back-up to ensure uninterrupted flow in the future.

While all of the bills have not been presented, he estimates around $15,000 was spent out of the water reserve.
