Moorcroft Police Report

July 8 - 14

On July 8, police received a complaint of kids playing around the construction area at the Catholic Church. Officer made contact with the parent of the children involved and advised them to make sure that their children stay off the church’s property so they do not get injured.

On July 8, police began assisting Gering Police Department with a missing person report.

On July 10, police were contacted in reference to a large fire in the backyard of a residence on North Belle Fourche. Officer arrived on scene and spoke with the homeowner who was doing a controlled burn. Officer advised the homeowner of the fire ordinance and told them to make sure it was completely out when it was done burning down.

On July 13, while patrolling, officer observed a male laying in a yard on North Cheyenne. Officers approached the subject and observed him sleeping. After several attempts to wake him, the subject woke up and the officers were able to identify the man. He was given a courtesy ride to his residence. Nothing further.

On July 13, Police were contacted in reference to minors being served at a local bar. Officers made contact with the juvenile who was said to be drinking alcohol. Juvenile was drinking a non-alcoholic beverage. Officers identified others in the area and in the bar, all of whom were confirmed to be 21 or over. Nothing further.

On July 13, police assisted with Jubilee parade with an escort and traffic control.

On July 13, police received a report of a missing child during the Jubilee street dance. Officers received the description of the child and began searching. After a short time officers received information that the child had been found. Nothing further.

On July 13, police received a vehicle key from an individual who had found it on the ground. Officer placed it in lost and found for safe keeping.

On July 13, during a routine traffic stop, driver was identified and officer was advised that the driver had a warrant for their arrest out of Campbell County. Officer placed the driver under arrest and transported to Crook County Detention Center without incident.

On July 13, police received a leather wallet that was found on S. Big Horn Ave. Owner was contacted to pick up their wallet.

On July 14, police issued two minors citations for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

On July 14, police were contacted in reference to an assault resulting in an unconscious male in Dewey’s Place. Upon arrival, EMTs requested a family member be removed as they were interfering with their ability to provide care to the injured male. Officers tried to get the family member to move away from the scene and they refused numerous times. The family member was later cited for Interference with a Peace Officer. Officers gathered information and witness statements on the assault and are continuing their investigation into that incident.

On July 14, police were called to a disturbance at Deere Haven. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to all involved. After receiving statements it was determined that the incident was only verbal in nature and all parties were asked to leave the premises for the remainder of the evening. Nothing further.
