September 9 - 15

On September 11, police were contacted in reference to a possible attempted burglary at the Presbyterian Church. Officer responded and took photos of the damaged door. Nothing seemed to be missing from the church.

On September 11, while leaving the Presbyterian Church, Officer noticed the RT phone box and power pole had been hit by an unknown vehicle behind the church. Damage to the phone box was significant and pole was damaged but functional. Officer advised RT of the damage.

On September 12, police were contacted by someone who had dropped a homeless man off at the Coffee Cup who said he had taken a dog from Newcastle. Officer made contact with the man who stated that he did take the dog as he felt it would get hit by a vehicle if left alone. Dog was later reunited with its owner.

On September 12, officer went to Moorcroft K8 and spoke to the 2nd graders about being a police officer.

On September 13, officer heard WHP advise a trooper of debris on I-90 in the west bound lane at approx. mile marker 155. Due to the early hour and visibility, Officer responded to the area and found two metal objects lying five feet apart in the left lane. There were scrape marks in the pavement where the objects had fallen. Officer removed them from the road.

On September 15, during a traffic stop, conversation with the driver and passenger led to the officer asking for consent to search the vehicle. Consent was granted. Officer and deputy searched the vehicle, nothing illegal was found. Officer cited the driver for speeding 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Moorcroft Police Department will be testing the Emergency Siren on Friday, September 20 at approx. 12 p.m. (noon).
