Downtown crash causes building damage

Due to a reported medical emergency, a local individual driving an SUV westbound on Converse on Monday afternoon lost control while turning into South Big Horn Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle careened onto the east sidewalk, hitting two light posts and two parked cars before crossing onto the west sidewalk and into the Clearwater Xperts plumbing building and the Happily Ever After Daycare, bringing the out-of-control vehicle to a stop.

The driver was examined by emergency medical personnel at the scene, but did not need transportation to a medical facility, according to Moorcroft Fire Chief Rusty Williamson.

Three Moorcroft firemen and four Pine Haven fire fighters responded to the call.

“I was in a meeting with four Pine Haven firemen and they came over and assisted us,” says Williamson.

This response included command and rescue units. There were no casualties due to this incident.

No citations have been issued at this time.
