Town launches development studies

Engineering firm selected for MTC and community evaluation studies

Moorcroft recently received a $50,000 community development grant from Wyoming Business Council for two separate studies in town. Half of the funding is to be spent specifically on the MTC study, while the other $25,000 is to be spent on a community evaluation.

The community analysis identifies potential future economic development, giving the governing body reasonable direction and strategies to continue building and maintaining a thriving environment for local residents and businesses in coming years.

Of the three engineering firms interviewed by the council assigned committee, the job of evaluating the two separate entities was awarded to Rural Community Consultants. These studies are anticipated to be completed in approximately six months at a total cost of $47,000.

The town plans to negotiate certain aspects of the research that can be conducted “in house” saving some funding for town engineers HDR to take part. The town matching funds for this grant is $6,250.
