Moorcroft Police Report

August 16 - 22

On August 18, police were called to a domestic disturbance involving a minor. Upon arrival, police were advised of a physical altercation where the minor child had physically assaulted their mother. After discussing options, it was decided the child would go to the YES house. Parents transported, nothing further.

On August 22, police received a REDDI report regarding a possible nine-year-old child driving a vehicle west on I-90. Officer located the vehicle and after witnessing a traffic violation, pulled the vehicle over. While contacting dispatch, officer witnessed movement inside the vehicle where the driver and passenger switched places. Officer advised the children (ages 15 & 11) that he saw the switching of drivers and the older child admitted they changed places. Older child was cited for Permitting an Unlicensed Driver to Drive and Interference with a Peace Officer, the younger child was cited for Failure to Yield and Drivers License Required. Officer escorted the children home and spoke with a parent about the situation. Officer released the children into the parent’s custody. Nothing further.

On August 22, during a routine traffic stop for speeding, officer was advised driver had an extraditable warrant out of Campbell County. Officer placed driver under arrest for the warrant and transported to Crook County Detention Center in Sundance without incident.

August 22 - 29

On August 23, police were contacted by a local business owner regarding a motorcycle rider parked along the road possibly needing assistance. Officer made contact with the driver who was needing a motel room. Officer escorted the driver to the Cozy Motel where they purchased a room for the day/night. Nothing further.

On August 26, police were called to the Moorcroft K8 for a welfare check on a student. Officers went to the school and contacted the student and staff and spoke with them about their concerns.

On August 28, police assisted EMS on an emergency call.
