Introducing three new teachers In Moorcroft

Jenny Gill

Jenny Gill, who has coached Moorcroft kids for approximately 21 years, decided to reach for a teaching job at MHS this year, "Because I love kids and want to have a positive impact on them." Gill is teaching family consumer science and business.

Gill looks forward to giving students a solid practical understanding of basic practices when they are on their own, "they want to become better typists, to learn about money - how to manage their money; and in the food classes, they want to make sweets and Beef Wellington."

She wants the young people in her classes to know they are important, "I just want the kids to have fun and know it's a safe place to come and have somebody consistent in their life."

Lacy McDonald

Lacy McDonald teaches sixth grade science and social studies.

McDonald grew up on a ranch outside of Newcastle, WY, married a man from Hulett and, having received her teaching degree two years ago, McDonald applied for the job at the MK-8 and was hired.

Beginning her career as a SPED paraprofessional in Newcastle when her three kids went to school she rediscovered her love of education, "I fell in love with school and decided to go back to school for education." She worked in Hulett last year, but "was ready for a classroom" and applied for her own.

McDonald hopes to give her class "an excitement for learning; to know, whether it's science or social studies, there are so many possibilities. It's not just words in a book; it is a chance to learn and grow in unimaginable ways. The teachers I remember, it wasn't the lessons they taught me, it was the excitement they brought to school every day. It's how they made me feel when I came into the classroom. I hope they take away the excitement and passion for learning and the opportunities it can give them."

Cameron Braden

Cameron Braden can be found in the gym or on the field working with his physical education (PE) classes, he teaches kindergarten to sixth grade. He was a paraprofessional last year, "It's nice going from that para role to the teacher role."

With his association as a para working with these youngsters, Braden was able to get to know most of the young people whom he is now teaching. He smiles, "I'm really excited to work with all these kids, they're really good kids. I love it, it's a blast."

Braden graduated from MHS in 2015 and both of his parents and grandparents still live in the area. After receiving a degree in criminal justice, Braden wanted something different so he explored other classes and found his place in physical education.

Braden's goal is to "make sure they [kids] have the skills to live that healthy lifestyle so they can be active all the time."
