Town accepts haul contract

Western Waste wins bid to continue garbage transport for Moorcroft

With Moorcroft’s garbage transport contract with Western Waste Solutions coming to an end, an invitation to bid had been advertised recently. Three bids were received by the deadline and were opened at Monday night’s meeting of the town’s governing body, who heard prices and terms of each bid in no particular order.

The first bid opened was from current service provider Western Waste Solutions with a price increase due to the current cost of fuel, etc.

The second and third bids came from Kiefer Sanitation and C W Waste Inc. respectively, which were both more expensive than Western Waste Solutions.

Under the advice of Mayor Ben Glenn, the council chose to table their decision and take the time to consider all options before a special meeting the following Wednesday.

Representatives from the bidding companies attended the Wednesday meeting to hear the council’s decision and, after discussion with the spokesmen and among themselves, the governing body awarded the contract to Western Waste with the lowest bid for similar services to continue hauling Moorcroft’s solid waste for another year.
