Fidelity to office

Faces changed with newly elected council members Heidi Humpal and Robert Stewart swearing their fidelity to the office at the first meeting of the year for the governing body in Moorcroft last Wednesday night.

The two got their feet wet, as it were, with a public meeting regarding the MTC earlier in the evening and both were active and eloquent.

The swearing in of the entire body was the first order of business before the meeting of the council was convened as the entire ruling body had been newly elected in November.

Former councilman and mayor pro-tem Paul Smoot, who was able to join the audience, was awarded a plaque recognizing his efforts for the town over the last two terms and a certificate was given to Dustin Petz, who was unable to attend, for stepping up and stepping in when the strength of the council was threatened with an incomplete table due to loss of a member.
