Lady Wolves improve with each game

Over the weekend, the Moorcroft Lady Wolves Varsity and Junior Varsity teams traveled to Douglas for a tournament, while our freshman team went to a tournament in Newcastle. It was a weekend of growth and learning.

On Friday, the Varsity team fell to Alliance, Douglas and Southeast. Although the scores did not show in our favor, the team made huge improvements every time they stepped on the court.

Once we entered pool play, the Varsity team became more confident in their ability as we played Wright and Burns, coming within six points of both teams. For the final game of the day, the Lady Wolves went to three with Newcastle, losing, 27-25 in the first game, winning the second game, 23-25 and falling just short of a win for the third game with a score of 16-14.

The Junior Varsity team met up with Alliance, Douglas and Southeast on Friday, falling short to each, but making improvements in each game. On Saturday, the JV team fell to Burns and Newcastle, but kept the game close at 21-16 and 23-21.

The JV split games against Wright with scores, 21-14 and 21-16. The girls were resilient in their efforts and it showed as the day progressed, with different skills being fine-tuned each game.

Our freshman team fared well over the weekend in Newcastle, splitting each pool play game. These girls proved to be scrappy on the court and played tight games with big schools. These games were played against Burns (18-16, 16-18) Buffalo (13-17, 17-10) and Campbell County (17-15, 18-16).

Although the matches didn’t come out in our favor, we still considered it a successful weekend because everyone learned something and every team made improvements. We are looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store, as we know these girls are determined to show everyone what Moorcroft Volleyball is capable of.
