    The Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC) Food Pantry at 101 S Belle Fourche Ave., Moorcroft, continues to grow as the effects of the COVID-19 and layoffs in the coal, oil and gas industries and supporting businesses continues to affect the working public.   • Accident at Hitler Rock

    A 20-year-old male was reportedly having fun with friends last Thursday evening when he decided to jump from the cliff in the area of Hitler Rock on the east side of Coulter Bay. Hitler Rock, which had, until a couple of years ago, stood in its place along the top of said cliff and from which youngsters were known to dive, now lies in the waves below, creating a dangerous obstacle to leaping from that position.     Nadine Joy Thompson age 94, went home to be with Jesus on April 6, 2020 after a short stay at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls and thankfully her daughters were able to spend the last few days with her in spite of the COVID-19 restrictions. Nadine was born on a homestead new Carlisle, Wyoming on June 5, 1925 to Cash (Cassius) and Babe (Beatrice Bros) Minnich.     Wyoming gas prices increase slightly GILLETTE (WNE) — Gasoline prices could stall during the second half of summer after nine straight weeks of increases, according to a surveying company. But in the short term, Wyoming customers are paying more at the pump. Prices have risen 1.5 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $2.09 a gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 494 stations.     Friday saw the first shovel of dirt cleared from the future site of the Dollar General immediately east of Pinnacle Bank on Converse Street/Highway 16. Moorcroft’s town council approved the plans for this endeavor several months ago, advocating new business and economical growth for the town.   • Horseshoe pits at the MTC

    Early Tuesday morning, John and Tracy Jones began the job of placing two sets of horseshoe pits in the south yard of the MTC. The installment of the game pits was approved by the town council at a previous meeting to offer the entire community a chance to get out and enjoy a stimulating game with friends or just quiet time practicing their throw.   • Local students named to Gillette College honor rolls

    Almost 130 students were named to the Gillette College honor rolls this semester, including Haylie Humes who made the President’s Honor Roll and Cherol Minton who made the part-time Honor Roll, both from Moorcroft. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some students must still complete in-person portions of their coursework. An additional honor roll list will be released at a later date to include those students.     Pee-Wee Princess Riata Northup is the daughter of Charity Northup of Oshoto. She will be a fifth grader this fall at Moorcroft K-8 School. She enjoys riding horses, swimming, singing and playing volleyball and basketball.
