    8-year-old Michael Campbell of Sturgis, SD appeared in court in Meade County, SD, last week charged with murder in the second degree after a body was discovered in his home that was believed to be that of missing Upton resident Shayna Ritthaler. Ritthaler, who attended school in Moorcroft and lived south of Upton, disappeared on October 3.     Due to the inclement weather Thursday, the MHS Homecoming festivities, including the parade, were taken indoors. This did not seem to stymie the fun had by the young people, who decorated “mini” floats for the parade line-up. Homecoming Grand Marshal Cynthia Clonch was in her place as the Wolf pack and even a real dog marched along.     At last week’s meeting, Public Works Director Sunny Schell discussed with the Pine Haven Town Council an issue with the town’s garbage pick-up contractor, Victory. The company’s trucks are driving too close to the edge of the pavement, closer than the contractually mandated ten inch safeguard, she said, actually “pushing” and breaking the asphalt and damaging the streets. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in the Boal Auditorium at the Upton Elementary School in Upton. A private family burial will be held at the Ritthaler Ranch.
