The Wolves traveled to Ethete for the State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 22. Lilly Barnum and Katelynn Blakeman are the two senior athletes on the team and put on a great show. It's been a busy season for the cross country team. On September 16, the Wolves attended the Michelle Ludwig Invite in Sheridan. In the varsity boys race, Marcus James ran an impressive 5K with the time of 18:28.40. In the varsity girls race, Mallory Jones earned fifth place with the time of 20:16.79. This weekend, the Wolves Cross Country Team made a long trek to Star Valley to run in the State Preview invite. This was a high school meet only and we carried three to Afton. The trip itself became a bonding experience that I, as their coach, enjoyed tremendously. The kids have become more than students and runners, they are a group of people whom I enjoy being with. We have a small but tough Cross Country team this year with six athletes; three middle school girls, two high school girls and one high school young man who is home-schooled. These young people have been running in the heat and been nibbled on by mosquitoes without complaint. I have all the team that I need in these six athletes. On Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, the Wolves traveled to Sheridan for the 1A/2A/4A East Regional Track Meet. Thankfully, the weather gods cooperated with the track gods and allowed a relatively uninterrupted meet to occur. The week of April 23 to 27 was a challenge met full on by the Wolves. Even with all the freshman and sophomores missing on Tuesday for WYTOPP testing and more gone during Friday and Saturday’s meets, for the Band trip to Florida, the Wolves howled victory at the end of the week. On Friday, April 5, the Moorcroft Wolves track team crossed state lines to compete in the Spearfish Queen City Classic Track Meet. It was an ideal day for this fast-paced meet and our Wolves represented well. Grayson Osmon placed ninth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.55 seconds, beating out almost 50 other runners. On Friday, March 22, the Wolves Track and Field team competed at the Natrona Invite in Casper. The Wolves had a lot of competition to contend with and showed up to battle with the best. Hailey and Jordan Jones pre-qualified for State competition in the 1600 Meter Run with the times of 5:39.23 and 5:43.87 respectively.
